About Me:

Dr Madhusree Sengupta is a Rehabilitation Medicine consultant & a specialist in Neurorehabilitation at Institute of Neurosciences, Kolkata. She has completed her MBBS and internship from North Bengal Medical College. As a recipient of the PRESIDENT GOLD MEDAL at the National level exit exam she obtained her Post Graduate Degree (DNB) in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation from the National Institute of Locomotor Disabilities (NILD), Kolkata. During this period she received extensive training in the different aspects of Musculoskeletal, Neurological and Pediatric Rehabilitation and completed her thesis on ICF classification of Spinal cord Injury. She further proceeded to do her Post Doctoral Fellowship in Neurorehabiliation from the esteemed NIMHANS, hospital Bangalore which was an eye opening exposure in the nuanced rehabilitation of a variety of neurologically impaired patients. Dr Sengupta has presented her work in numerous conferences in the State, National and International levels and is the winner of multiple awards including the coveted ‘IAPMR DADHICHI’ award (Highest award given for innovation to budding Physiatrists in India) and ‘IAPMR BINDESHWARI SUDERSHAN GOLD MEDAL”. She is a keen enthusiast in the use of advanced technology in rehabilitation and is the first in her field in the country to do a Post Doctoral thesis work on Virtual reality in Spinal Cord injury patients and research on Kinetic and Kinematic Breath by Breath analysis (K4B2) in lower limb amputees. She has published her research in national and international journals. She has also completed certificate course in Interventional pain management from Daradia pain clinic Kolkata. Spinal cord injury, Sports Medicine, Virtual reality, Robotics and Rehabilitation of Syndromic children are her areas of special interest. With a Degree in contemporary dance she is keen to explore Performing Arts Medicine and Dance Movement Therapy extensively in future. She has also worked as a Senior Resident in NIMHANS (Bangalore), NILD (Kolkata) and AIIMS (Raipur) and has been involved in Undergraduate and Postgraduate teaching along with conducting exams, multiple training sessions, and workshops in Public interest. She is an active member of IAPMR, IFNR & ISPRM. With an undying belief in the beauty of Rehabilitation, Dr Sengupta wants to keep discovering unexplored horizons in time to come.
